WhatsApp limita ainda mais encaminhamento de mensagens: apenas para 5 contatos

O encaminhamento de mensagens do WhatsApp ficou ainda mais limitado: desde o final de semana, o aplicativo começou a impedir que uma mesma mensagens seja enviada para mais do que cinco contatos. O objetivo é combater spam na plataforma, assim como dar uma resposta às críticas relacionadas ao papel do mensageiro na disseminação de mensagens falsas.

A informação foi divulgada pelo perfil WABetaInfo do Twitter, conhecido por suas informações em primeira mão relacionadas ao WhatsApp. O novo limite adotado já estava valendo para a Índia, e agora foi liberado para todos os países. A mudança vale para todas as plataformas.

O WhatsApp começou a limitar o encaminhamento de mensagens em julho após sofrer fortes críticas pela disseminação de boatos pela plataforma. O caso era especialmente preocupante na Índia: meses antes do limite, informações falsas espalhadas pelo aplicativo resultaram na morte de mais de 20 pessoas. Por isso, o país asiático era o que tinha a maior limitação: apenas cinco contatos podiam receber uma mensagens encaminhada.

Em outras partes do mundo, o recurso funcionava um pouco diferente. No Brasil, a limitação de encaminhamento valia para 20 pessoas. A medida não impediu o uso do WhatsApp para disseminar desinformação durante as eleições, e ela chegou a ser criticada pelo então candidato Jair Bolsonaro, que chegou a sugerir forçar o WhatsApp a reverter o limite de encaminhamento.

No entanto, o que ocorreu foi o contrário e agora o recurso é tão limitado no Brasil e em qualquer parte do mundo quanto já era na Índia. Resta saber se ele vai ter algum resultado positivo no combate às informações falsas espalhadas pelo WhatsApp.
